Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Program Management, the qualified Senior Technical Consultant will be responsible for developing and delivering technical solutions, performing system maintenance, software customization and system upgrades. He or she will act in a consulting capacity on projects with capital budgets ranging from several million dollars to several 100 million dollars. They will be responsible for assisting our clients with the technical elements of Diameter’s project delivery which include, but are not limited to, system integrations requirements gathering, development and testing, data validations, and custom report development. The successful candidate will have experience with vendor management, and programing languages like JavaScript, Python, C and C++ and SQL. Familiarity with the water utility industry and consulting will be an asset.

The ideal candidate will have a Computer Programming or Software Development background with the ability to problem solve, prioritize, and be adaptable in this evolving position. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working within and administrating Sales Force and Mission Control. The Senior Technical Consultant will face new challenges daily as projects may differ in size, scope and team composition. This role will be given a fair degree of latitude to make sound decisions, by relying on their judgement and experience, with support from the leadership team, when required. The role will evolve as the company continues to expand and the successful candidate may be required to take on additional responsibilities to meet the needs of this growing business.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage project deliverables
  • Manage and identify opportunities to enhance Diameter’s Technical Solutions
  • Assist clients with technical requirements gathering, development and testing
  • Help define, develop and manage delivery of project reports
  • Support initiatives related to data integrity and normalization
  • Train stakeholders on use of reports and dashboards
  • Support initiatives related to process optimization and efficiency
  • Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Identify and manage project dependencies
  • Develop and deliver progress reports and presentations 
  • Track project performance and milestones, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term project goals
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques (Dashboard Reporting)
  • Report and escalate issues to management as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or a related field of study
    • Strong understanding and experience with common programing languages
    • Experience in technical solution design and development
    • Experience in data management, mining, and insights
    • Experiencing with system integrations
    • Experience in process development and optimization
    • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to work with stakeholders to assess potential risks
    • Interpersonal and relationship-building skills
    • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail, multitasking and prioritizing
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access, Visio)

    Assets:

    • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
    • Programming Certifications
    • Preference for candidates with an understanding of Advanced Metering, Meter Data Management and Utility business processes and practices
    • Preference for candidates who have worked with and are familiar with Sales Force and Mission Control
    • Experience in the water meter industry or working with municipalities and utilities

    Operational Requirements:

    • Willingness and ability to work overtime, as required
    • Ability to travel within North America
    • Valid G driver’s license

    Work Location:

    • The primary work location will be at a home office.
    • Travel to client locations across North America (when appropriate), typically 2 to 3 days per visit, 1-2 times per quarter.
    • Diameter Services will arrange for applicable visas when working in the United States and abroad.
